WRAP-UP & TBR [Nov-Dec 2017]

Hello bibliophiles! It’s that time of the month once again. Imma share the books I’ve read this month and the month I plan to read next month.

NOVEMBER WRAP-UP

Let’s start with the books I was able to read and enjoyed this month.

  • LOLA AND THE BOY NEXT DOOR by Stephanie Perkins

Just like the first book in this trilogy, I loved this book as well. But there a few things I didn’t like but there are more things I love about it. I love the writing style of the author as always. I enjoyed how things progress in the book and how someone who thinks she’s no longer in love with her neighbor. I like that she didn’t forget about who she really is just to impress someone. I like that about Lola.

  • SHATTER ME by Taherah Mafi

With the hype about the additional three books, to the once trilogy now a series, Shatter Me, I decided to jump into the bandwagon and read the first book. I really love the story so much. I regret not reading it back in my high school days. But I’m not too late for this series though. There are still three books coming our way, so no pressure there.

I know most of the fans ship Warner and Juliet but while reading this book, I’m shipping Adam with Juliet. But I know that it would eventually change, like what happened when I was reading the ACOTAR books.

  • BOY BAND by Jacqueline E. Smith

I’m not gonna talk too much about this book. I’ll just tell you how great this book is and you should really read it!

I have a full spoiler free review up, here.

  • UNRAVEL ME by Taherah Mafi

Oh, look. I’ve actually finished the second book and completely have a change of heart regarding my OTP. I’ll probably write a proper review of the first three books in the series soon. But for now, lemme just tell you that I love this book so much. I really enjoyed the writing style of Taherah. I wanna read more of her books soon.

Despite a not so successful start of the month, I was able to read just four books. It’s not too much but that’s the least I could do this month. But expect that I will be reading more books next month since I have to complete my Good Reads challenge.

DECEMBER TBR

For next month, I’m putting these books on the very top of my TBR pile:

  • BACKSTAGE
  • THE CROWNS OF CROSWALD
  • THREATENING SOULS
  • SILENT NIGHT | HOLY NIGHT

Those four are on top of my list. I might read other books not mentioned. You’ll find out about it by the end of the month. But for now, those are the books I badly wanna read and review.

So what are you plans for the month of December? Have you written you Christmas Wishlist? Lemme know in the comments!

Thank you for reading and have a great day!

BOOK HAUL & WRAP-UP: October 2017

Hello Bibliophiles!!!

I’m back with a new blog. I’ve been missing in action because we had troubles with our connection but now it’s okay and I can do some catching up now! This time, I’ll be sharing to you the books I was able to read in the month of October as well as the books I bought or was given to me.

Let’s start of with the books I was able to acquire last month. As a bibliophile with responsibilities, we wish to have books all the time. For me, books are my comfy blanket. I find the greatest comfort in reading books and shopping for books, even just by strolling around the book store and not buying anything. I went to the book store a couple of times last month. From one of the trips, I was able to buy two books for a cheap price.

I got the ninth book of The Clique Series by Lisi Harrison, Bratfest at Tiffany’s. I got it for a cheaper price than buying it somewhere else. I bought it for only Php115 or less than $3 USD from a bargain bookstore at the mall. I’ve been trying to collect and read the entire series and I am glad our bargain bookstore has copies of these books at cheaper prices. So, now I am in search for the rest of the series and it’s companion summer collection series. (Although, I’m a bit too old for these kinds of books but I’m a child at heart, so you can’t prevent me from not reading them! Ha.)

With that book I was also able to get a book with a Christmas theme. Since Christmas is fast approaching, I want to read a book set in the holidays because that would just be perfect for the season. The book is compilation of two novellas written by Colleen Coble. The first novella is Silent Night then the other one is Holy Night. With just the title, I know I would definitely enjoy it in our Christmas break next month.

And on that same very day I bough those books, I received two mails from Book Depository (You might have seen the unboxing blog already). Each package has a book in it and it’s the books I’ve been dying to receive ever since I chose it as my giveaway prize. And those books are A Court of Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury, both by Sarah J. Maas. I am so in love with these books. Receiving them makes me want to reread them! I do plan to reread it next year or soon as my copy of ACOWAR would arrive.

Days later, I got my very first Sarah Dessen book. I heard a lot of great things about this author and her books, so you can’t imagine how excited I was to own one of her books. This was the Book of the Month of Empire Crates June box. I have this book for months but haven’t decided to actually call it as my own. So the book is Once and For All. I like the premise of this book and I really wish to read it soon, but my increasing TBR Pile doesn’t allow me to do so, for now.

So those are the books I acquired, now for the books I was able to read over the month of October.

First up is The Raven God by Alane Adams. I’m such an awful reviewer that it took me awhile before I was able to read this book fully. But at the end of the day, I loved it and kinds miss the adventures of Sam and his friends.

The next book I was able to read is Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover. It’s clear that I’m still in a CoHo marathon over the whole year and I regret nothing because her books are so amazing. I loved the first book but had a few issues but this book is amazing. You can clearly see that raising your siblings and balancing school are not an easy job for someone who just went through the death of both parents in a span of two years. I won’t be able to handle that if I was in her/their shoes. I cannot wait to read the last book soon.

I also was able to read Nowhere to Run by Jeanne Bannon. She was kind enough to give me an Amazon Gift Card to purchase her book and review it for her. I was so glad I accepted it because the book was amazing. I didn’t know that I enjoy reading mystery books before. I was never a kind of person who reads mystery or what, but this book makes me want to read more mystery now. (If you have suggestions, feel free to comment below or hit me on my Instagram account, @wandersbetweenpages).

I have rewatched the two Descendants movie for the 5th time last month and cannot help but fall in love with all the characters over and over again. And I just remembered that the movie was based from a book written by a Filipino author! So I decided to read the first two books, Isle of the Lost and Return to the Isle of the Lost, of the series (or is it a trilogy?). With that, I fell much more in love with the characters as I read the book and as I watch again the movies.

Ratings:

  • The Raven God – ★★★★★
  • Point of Retreat – ★★★★★
  • Nowhere to Run – ★★★★★
  • Isle of the Lost – ★★★★★
  • Return to the Isle of the Lost – ★★★★★

All in all, last month was a productive month, I am close to achieving my GoodReads Reading Challenge goal and I plan to surpass it.

WRAP-UP AND BOOK HAUL: September 2017

nd of the month once again.  This calls for another monthly wrap-up and book haul. This month was a hectic month for me, especially towards the end of the month because of all the course deadlines. However, that is something we will talk about in another blog post.

It is the end of the month once again. This calls for another monthly wrap-up and book haul. This month was a hectic month for me, especially towards the end of the month because of all the course deadlines. However, that is something we will talk about in another blog post.

With a hectic month, I’ve only read four books. Two of which are electronic books and the other two are physical copies send to me by the author just a few months ago. I have written reviews for the books but since it’s taking me forever to write them and post them, I’ll say a few things of each book.

First up is SLAMMED by Colleen Hoover. Yet again, I’m making myself suffer by reading another heart breaking book by the very awesome CoHo. This book is not that heart breaking just like the rest. I also love how amazing this book is written. I also love that they included poetry in the book. I’m not a huge fan of poetry but reading this makes me want to finish it that fast.

Second is THE RED SUN and KALIFUS RISING both by Alane Adams. These books are just amazing. I love the fact that I get to read a book that has Norse mythology. I have a review of The Red Sun up so read my thoughts now. I highly recommend this series to the fans of mythology.

And the last book I’ve read is Geekerella by Ashley Poston which was such an easy read. I’m glad I read this because it makes me swoon over the fact that Star Wars The Last Jedi will be out in a few months. This book makes me remember the days when I used to write fan fiction for my favorite artists. This book makes me want to continue with the book I’ve written but change it up a bit.

  • Slammed – ★★★★★
  • The Red Sun – ★★★★
  • Kalifus Rising – ★★★★★
  • Geekerella – ★★★★

Now, it’s time for me to share to you the books I got this month. I was able to receive a book and bought one book this month, making it two books for the month of September.

This month I received a box filled with goodies from JKS Communication, a publishing company. I have yet to post my unboxing of the box soon. The box contains an ARC of THE CROWNS OF CROSWALD by D.E. Night. The book has an amazing premise and I can’t wait to read it. This book was released last July but I only got my package this month, which kinda sucks to be honest.

Anyway, the second book, which I bought today, is GIRL ONLINE by Zoe Sugg or famously known as Zoella. I found this book in a thrift bookstore. I was so happy when I saw this book just standing with the rest of the books. I didn’t hesitate in buying the book because it was less than 2 dollars, guys! Plus it’s hardback, so STEAL! I also didn’t hesitate because I’ve been planning to treat myself with a book because I’ve worked my brain off with school. So I was gifting myself with a book. So Yehey for that!

That’s about it guys, I hope you enjoyed that little wrap up and book haul. Share to me what you’ve read and bought this month. I want to know about it. Also if you’ve read the same books as I did, lemme know also because I want to have someone to talk about it!

Thank you for reading and have a great day!

HAUL & WRAP-UP: July 2017

It’s the time of the month again!

Hello bibliophiles!!!

It’s the time of the month again!

BOOK HAUL

First, I’ll be sharing to you the books I got or received for the month of July. Compared to last month, I only got one book this month.

I went to Book Sale, a bargain bookstore in my country, just two weeks ago. I came across Shadowland in the pile and decided to get it because, why not?

It was for less than 3 USD and it is a hardcover copy! And it looks so new!!

WRAP UP

This month I was able to read 5 books. Most of it on ebook because I was so into reading at night than day because of school.

  • It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover – ★★★★★
  • Hopeless by Colleen Hoover – ★★★★★
  • Dream Me by Kathryn Berla – ★★★★★
  • Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover – ★★★★★
  • Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover – ★★★★★

I have some reviews of some of the books up right now. Check them out by clicking the titles.

June Wrap-up and July TBR 2017

Hello bibliophiles!

I’m 5 days late with this wrap-up and tbr but you ain’t stopping me from having it here.

JUNE WRAP-UP

Last month wasn’t the best reading month for me. I had tons of homework to do and I got caught up with my business that I forgot to post my monthly wrap-up.

It’s a shame that I got to read only 3 books last month.

  1. SUMMER UNSCRIPTED by Jen Klein – ★★★★☆
  2. CROWN OF MIDNIGHT by Sarah J. Mass – ★★★★★
  3. LETTERS FROM SAM TO KYLIE by Lyss Venice – ★★★★☆
*for full review, click the title and for links to goodreads, click author.

Those are the only books I got time to read last month. This month, my goal is to read more than 3 books because I need to catch up on my reading challenge.

JULY TBR

The first book on my list is ENCHANTMENT: THE MOONSTONE by Evelyne Contant. I’ve been wanting to read this book for so long. Now it’s the first in my list.

Then I’ll be reading THE RED SUN by Alane Adams. Now that I have the third book, I can now binge read the series without worrying about the cliffhangers.

Next, I’ll be reading some Colleen Hoover books because I’m so into her books right now! I just finished one of it and cried like a baby! I would also be reading HEIR OF FIRE by Sarah J. Maas because Tower of Dawn is fast approaching. I need to read the series as soon as I can so I can be on track with the series.

MONTHLY WRAP-UP & BOOK HAUL: May 2017

Hello there bibliophiles!

Yet again, another month has ended, which means it’s time to share to you the books I was able to read this month and the books I hauled.

BOOK HAUL

Let’s start with my May book haul. It’s sad to say that I wasn’t able to buy or get any book this month due to no funds because school is out. I’m still waiting for my packages form authors and giveaways; it hasn’t arrive yet. So no books for me this month.

WRAP-UP

Now for the May wrap-up. I have read just 3 books this month. It sucks but I had to accept it. I’ll do my best next month.

A COURT OF WINGS AND RUIN by Sarah J. Maas

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book is by far the best book I’ve read this month, and probably this year. I love it so much that it hurts knowing that we won’t be able to read more of Feysand.

Check out my full review here.

MAYBE NOT by Colleen Hoover

🌟🌟🌟🌟

I enjoyed this book so much because you’ll get to know more about the side characters of Maybe Someday. But the mature contents were not my cup of tea. But then again, CoHo books contains a lot of that and I think it’s not that of an issue.

UGLY LOVE by Colleen Hoover

🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book is so cute and really worth the read. It was fun to read and made me want to read more CoHo books. My full review will be linked here.

So that ends my May book haul and wrap-up. June would be a month filled with books, hopefully. It hope I could have more progress in my reading challenge because right now, I’m quite behind.

Anyway, so how many books have you bought in May and how many books were you able to read? Also how’s your Goodreads reading challenge?

Thank you and have great day!

MONTHLY BOOK HAUL & WRAP-UP: April 2017

Hey! Hey! Hey!

It’s the end of another month again and it’s time for me to share to you the books I bought and the books I was able to read for the month of April.

Let’s start with the book haul. Just like last month, I have only bought, I mean sent one book. One dear author suggested that I should go and check a specific author because she’s looking for reviewers to review her book before it gets released. I took her offer and contacted the author. She agreed and months later, I have the copy on my hand now.

DREAM ME

by Kathryn Berla

Zat is a dreamer from the distant future—a time when humans no longer dream and Earth is a desolate wasteland. He dreams of the beautiful Earth of the past, and a fiery-haired beauty named Babe. Against the wisdom of his peers, Zat decides to risk everything to travel back in time and lie in Babe’s dreams…

Babe is the perpetual new girl in town. Her father’s job frequently moves the family around the country, and Babe just longs for a place to call home. As she settles into the sleepy town of Sugar Dunes, Florida, Babe begins to have strange dreams of a green-eyed boy named Zat. Night after night, Babe shows Zat her world. But the dreams come at the cost of nearly crippling migraines every morning. Babe’s life outside of her dreams pales in comparison to her growing love for Zat and their time spent together.

But the more time Babe and Zat spend together in her dreams, the more Babe’s pain increases, and Zat begins to question the reality of his existence. How can he live a life Babe, when all they have is her dreams?

If that synopsis made you curious, you can check this book once it’s released on July 11, 2017.

Now for my April Wrap-Up. Unlike last month, I have read 4 books this month. It’s only a few books but it’s an accomplishment for me.

CONFESS by Colleen Hoover – ★★★★★

SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN by Katie Li – ★★★

A COURT OF MIST AND FURY by Sarah J. Maas – ★★★★★

MAYBE SOMEDAY by Colleen Hoover – ★★★★★

It’s an achievement for me, though it doesn’t compare to the number of books I got to read in January. If you want to get in detail with my thoughts on those books mentioned, check out my review, just click the title and it would lead you right into the specify review.

Note: I still have to write reviews for ACOMAF and Maybe Someday tonight.

I hope you enjoyed that and lemme know your book haul and wrap-up for April. Thank you and may you never lose your bookmark while reading. Bye.
